Know About The 4130 Steel’s Strength and Properties-

The AISI and SAE outline 4130 steel for its specific uses. The class of steel is designated by the alloy’s first digit, which includes one of its major alloying component(s). In contrast, the second digit represents the relative percentage of the alloying element. The last two digits represent the carbon concentration by 0.01%. 4130 steel is considered the part of the chromium-molybdenum steels with approximately 1% molybdenum/chromium. This high strength steel also includes 0.30% carbon. As per the study, it is found that 4130 steel is alloyed with 0.28 – 0.33% Carbon, 0.7 – 0.9% Manganese, 0.15 – 0.35% Silicon, 0.8 – 1.1% Chromium, 0.15 – 0.25% Molybdenum, less than and equal to 0.035% Phosphorus and less than and equal to 0.04 % Sulphur.

4130 steel is one of the best examples of low carbon steel; it has 0.28 – 0.33% Carbon with tolerance. It is useful in many ways, as it is 7.85 g/cm3 (0.284 lb/in3) in density and provides advantage from its heat-treatment hardening. The best thing about 4130 steel is that it is weldable in all commercial methods, and it can be easily machined in its tempered condition.
